Job Description

Our client is a well-established engineering and metal fabrication company delivering high-quality solutions across industrial, civil, forestry, and mechanical sectors. With a strong focus on safety, precision, and workmanship, the company specialises in custom fabrication, repairs, and heavy-duty equipment manufacturing.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator / Welder to join the workshop and site operations team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication sketches, and measurements accurately
  • Fabricate structural steel components for industrial, civil, forestry, and mechanical applications
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding to produce high-quality, durable welds
  • Cut, shape, and prepare steel materials using plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene equipment, grinders, drills, and saws
  • Operate fabrication workshop machinery including press brakes, guillotines, rollers, and CNC equipment
  • Fit, position, align, and tack components prior to final welding
  • Manufacture custom metal parts and assemblies based on client specifications and project requirements
  • Repair, modify, and maintain metal structures such as frames, guards, buckets, booms, and heavy-duty equipment
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure weld strength, alignment, and dimensional accuracy meet required standards
  • Install and assemble fabricated components on-site when required
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding tools and fabrication equipment
  • Follow all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and production targets
Skills and Experience Required
  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in metal fabrication and welding
  • Strong welding skills in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings
  • Experience working with structural steel and heavy fabrication
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality workmanship
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
